About Us
A traditional village show in the heart of Somerset

The beginning - 1904
The Show was inaugurated by the Mutual Improvement Society in 1904 under the enthusiastic leadership of the Vicar, the Reverend W T Dyne. The first show was held in August that year on the Vicarage Lawn and Prizes were awarded to the children for the best collection of wild flowers. Children also ran on the lawn where a concert was held in the evening. A fancy dress cricket match took place in the adjoining paddock.

The Show was a great success and the forerunner of larger events to follow under the auspices of the newly formed Evercreech Horticultural Society. Soon fruit, vegetable and garden flowers were added to the exhibits and the competitors increased in numbers. After interruption by the First World War the Show restarted and a fur and feather section was introduced but this was soon replaced by handicrafts. Sports and horse jumping became additional attractions, and newspaper reports also mention greyhound racing and a motorcycle football match. Health and Safety was not a consideration at the time!

The event is now run by Evercreech Show Society, a non-profit community organisation, which also organises an annual Coffee Morning, Plant Sale and Christmas Fayre, in order to raise funds towards the cost of putting on the main Show.
